Ocular Manifestation of Graft-Versus-Host Disease Following Allogenic Hematopoietic Stem Cells Transplantation

Summary: Graft-versus-host disease is a common complication of allogenic stem cel transplantation. Ocular manifestation of the disease (especially chronic form) are: keratoconjunctivitis sicca and cicatrical conjuctivitis, which may lead to severe ocular surface complications. Ocular Graft-versus-host disease develops in 40–90% of patients and can impair visual acuity and quality of life. We present the problem to realise the significance of cooperation between transplantologists and ophthalmologist during therapy.
