Summary: Uveal ectropion results from proliferation of the iris pigment through the pupil margin to the anterior surface of the iris. It is rare, usually nonprogressive disorder first described in 1891 by Wicherkiewicz. It can be uni- or bilateral, congenital or acquired. Congenital uveal ectropion is often associated with Neurofibromatosis type 1 − NF1, Rieger’s anomaly, Prader-Willi syndrome or facial hemihyperotrophy. Acquired uveal ectropion can be caused by membranous traction of the iris from secondary causes such as ischemia and inflammation. Congenital uveal ectropion often coexists with glaucoma which can occur between the early childhood and adolescence or later as well. Pathogenesis of glaucoma in uveal ectropion is unknown. In this paper 4 cases of glaucoma in congenital uveal ectropion with follow-up period of 1 to18 years are presented. The material consists of 3 boys and 1 girl with a trabeculectomy with basal iridectomy performed. In all cases intraocular pressure normalization was obtained.
