Summary: Ocular infections are a very common problem in ophthalmology. There are a lot of studies on the epidemiology of ocular infections and bacterial resistance against most popular chemiotherapeutics. It is also very important to understand the role of the natural microbiata of the conjunctival sac as a potential source of pathogens. We present a review of studies comparing contents of conjunctival microbiata in different conditions and the resistance of most popular bacteria against chemotherapeutics, used in majority of ocular therapies.
