Summary: The paper presents selected issues on assessment of the risk related to the laser radiation with respect to the EU directive 2006 25WE describing hazards of artificial optical radiation. The key legal instruments of laser radiation are identified. The most important aspects of the safety in laser equipment use have been discussed.
The criteria for risk assessment in the workplace equipped with lasers have been pointed out, including types of hazards for the eyes and skin.
