Summary: Owing to the development of optoelectronic devices, the number of applications employing lasers is increasing, both for professional needs, as well as for individual consumers.
The manuscript discusses the most important sources of risk associated with increased availability of lasers and laser products.
Examples of the risks, associated with the use of lasers in toys, gadgets and common measuring devices, are given. Illegal products available on-line and hazardous applications have been indicated. The risks associated with LED use have been discussed.
