Summary: Allergic disorders of cornea and conjunctiva include entities with different pathogenesis, hypersensitivity mechanisms and symptoms. Each type of ocular allergic reaction is associated with eye redness, itching and tearing, may affect cornea and lead to vision disturbances. Mast cells and eosinophils play a significant role in the mechanism of them, but in some entites T lymphocytes play a dominant role. We present the pathophysiology, hypersensitivity mechanisms, symptoms and treatment of allergic corneal and conjunctival diseases.
