Summary: Lensectomy is a known and used method of surgical treatment of subluxated lenses in children. The method is safe and bears a small risk of complications. The most important factor is to determine the proper timing for surgery and the method of post-operative aphakia correction. This dissertation comprises an analysis and assessment of results of examination of 42 children (54 eyes). The objective of the dissertation is: intraocular pressure assessment and secondary glaucoma occurrence. Treatment efficiency of the displaced lens is measured by the quality of vision in the operated eye. In congenital lens subluxation, most of children are born with correct lenses positioning. A lens is displaced in a later period of growth when binocular vision and central fixation have been already developed, at least partially. The later the ligaments of a lens are torn off or elongated, the bigger the chance that child will have correct vision. Inclusion of vision rehabilitation directly after surgery in the form of aphakia correction and occlusion therapy in selected cases is a very important aspect. Intraocular pressure in patients who were assessed in this study was correct before surgery, after it and during follow-up period. In group I mean intraocular pressure before surgery was 15.5 mmHg (12.00–17.00) and during follow-up period it was 16.6 mmHg (13.00–26.00). In group II intraocular pressure was 15.9 mmHg (12.00–22.00) and during follow-up period it was 17.5 mmHg (12.00–28.00). A comparative analysis between the groups and in each of analyzed moments did not indicate statistically significant differences of mean intraocular pressure value.
