Summary: MICS cataract surgery develops post operative astigmatism in the minimal way. In up to 80% of MICS patients the corneal astymgatism is less then 0.50 D. But only 25% of Cooaxial Standard cataract surgery patients have astigmatism less than 0.50 D. MICS is a useful method for cataract extraction in refractive purposes. MICS development caused foldable lenses creation, which can be implanted through 1.5 mm or smaller incision. Lenses should fulfill the high technology. However, MICS currently uses an incision size of 1.7 mm due to the limitations caused by the evolution of the lenses.
