Summary: Intracranial meningiomas are among the most common brain tumors in adults. The olfactory groove meningiomas are 8-18% of these tumors. They develop from arachnoidea cells in the middle of anterior cranial fossa. They do not metastasize, but on account of localization and proliferation these tumors are classified as locally malignant neoplasms. They grow slowly and reach a large size. They press the brain tissue including the optic nerves near their chiasm. Ophthalmological signs are frequently the first symptoms of a developing tumor and belong to the main symptoms of these neoplasms. A triad of symptoms characteristic of olfactory groove meningioma include: impaired sense of smell on the side of the tumor, atrophy of the optic disc on the same side and papilloedema on the opposite side. Its name is Foster-Kennedy syndrome. Total surgical resection is the only effective treatment for this meningioma.
