Birdshot Chorioretinopathy – a Case Report

Summary: The 35-year old man presented a deterioration of vision in his left eye for three months. The visual acuity of the right eye was 0.8; counting fingers in the left one. The biomicroscopic evaluation revealed light-colored spots, 1/4 DD, fluorescein angiography presented occluded peripheral vessels and ischemic area. Clinical examination presented enlarged liver. The laboratory tests showed increased GOT and GTP values, HLA A29, CMV, RNA-HCV positive and HIV negative results. Intravenous methylprednisolone was applied in the treatment and obtained 1.0 visual acuity in the right eye and 0.03 in the left one. Because of HCV positive results the immunosuppressant was not applied. The photocoagulation was performed in both eyes due to neovascularization in the right and hemorrhages in the left eye.
