Summary: Purpose: To evaluate degree of binocular vision in children after strabismus surgery.
Material and Methods: The studied group comprised 70 patients at the age from 2 to 3 years: 6 children with exotropia of the both eyes, 17 patients with esotropia of the one eye and 47 children with esotropia of the both eyes. After surgery the binocular vision using many stereopsis tests was evaluated in all patients.
Results: In our research we have achieved single binocular vision in 49 children (70%). The best results showed children with a small primary angle of deviation (76%) – range from 10° to 20°.
Conclusions: Early strabismus surgery facilitates the development of single binocular vision in children.
