Summary: Glaucoma is an entity of a heterogenic and complex background. Many mutated genes leading to disease development were discovered, but the majority is still to be found. New methods of genotyping, like GWAS genome wide association study let one hope for faster and more precise detection of glaucoma genetic background that in turn will probably contribute to development of new forms of prophylaxis an treatment of an entity.
