Summary: The childhood glaucoma is a rare heterogeneous group of diseases leading to persistent optic nerve damage. Because of severe prognosis fast diagnosis and effective treatment of glaucoma is extremely important. Although surgery is the main treatment of the congenital glaucoma, pharmacotherapy is essential complement of it. As an effect of limited studies results conducted in children there are limited data about anti-glaucoma drugs use in young patients. Among intraocular pressure lowering drugs topical beta blockers, prostaglandin analogues and carbonic anhydrase inhibitors were found to be most commonly used. The least frequently used medications were alpha agonists and systemic carbonic anhydrase inhibitors. The use of prostaglandin analogues is related to minimum severe side effects. Assuming the long-lasting use of anti-glaucoma drugs in children and its adverse effects, before starting the treatment the significant element become to analyze the health state of infants including coexisting diseases.
