Summary: This dissertation presents an analysis and assessment of results of examination of 42 children (54 eyes) who underwent surgical removal of the subluxated lens, 12 patients in both eyes in 17 patients in one eye. Patients were assessed in the following groups: group I + II – group covered by the examination, children were observed after lensectomy: 41 eyes in 29 operated children mean age 5.88 ± 3.16 years. Group I – group covered by the examination, children were observed for a period of up to 2 years after lensectomy: 24 eyes in 19 operated children mean age 6.35 ± 2.96 years. Group II – group covered by the examination, children were observed for a period of 2 to 10 years after a lensectomy: 17 eyes in 10 operated children mean age 5.24 ± 3.41 years. Group III – control group, children with subluxated lenses who did not undergo lensectomy: 13 eyes in 13 children mean age 5.92 ± 2.52 at the moment of the diagnosis in the hospital. Children in group I were observed for a mean period of 9 months, in group II for 6.7 years and in group III for 3.2 years. In group I 62% of eyes had considerable amblyopia before the surgery their vision acuity was poorer than 0.1. In group II 55% of eyes. During observation period up to 2 years after the surgery changes took place: 40% of children in group I reached better visual acuity than 0.6. Similar changes took place in group II: 41% of eyes had better visual acuity than 0.6 and only 17% of eyes had vision poorer than 0.1. Binocular vision to the extent fusion was achieved in 32.4% of group I, 26.2% of children in group II. In group III, the presence of fusion was observed in 63.2% of children.
