Summary: Ocular demodecosis is a medical condition caused by the presence of parasitic mites called Demodex. The disorder is very common and it is necessary to develop new diagnosing and treatment methods. Two types of Demodex mites, i.e. Demodex folliculorum and Demodex brevis are found in humans. The parasites cause many disorders. At present the in vivo reflectance confocal microscopy is the most modern technology, which may become an effective method of diagnosing ocular demodecosis in the future. In spite of its undeniable advantages, the in vivo confocal microscopy technology also has some limitations. In order to improve eyelid in vivo confocal microscopy semiology it is necessary to continue and expand the research conducted in this field.
