Prevalence of Myopia in Polish Children

Summary: Renewed analysis of the current literature concerning myopia in Polish schoolchildren was performed. The results of epidemiological studies on the prevalence of myopia in Polish schoolchildren have been presented and described. It has been noted that the prevalence of myopia is 13% (SD=5) among children. A higher prevalence of myopia among girls than boys has been demonstrated. It has been observed that myopia occurs more often in children living in cities than in children living in villages. The prevalence of myopia in Polish children is similar to the prevalence rates of myopia among children in other European countries.
