Summary: Purpose: The aim of the study was quality of life assessment in patients with pseudophakia, in whom Nd:YAG capsulotomy due to the posteriori capsule opacification was performed. Material and Methods: Total number of 23 patients (28 eyes) after cataract extraction and intraocular lens implantation with posterior capsule opacification. Indication for Nd:YAG capsulotomy was posterior capsule opacification. In selected patients anterior segment examination in the slit-lamp, posterior capsule opacification evaluation in mydriasis using 1% Tropicamid and anterior segment colour photograph to document the opacification degree was performed. Each patient also filled VFQ-25 questionnaire for quality of life and visual function level evaluation. Patients had follow-up visits 2-3 weeks after capsulotomy. During follow-up examination, except anterior segment examination in the slit-lamp and photo, patient once again filled the VFQ-25 questionnaire. Results: Based on objective tests performance and subjective patients assessment, significant increase in quality of life following Nd:YAG capsulotomy was stated. Except evident direct advantages for patients due to the performed procedure, there are economic advantages associated with smaller reliability on the care from the others, treatment of the possible trauma caused by low visual acuity and further rehabilitation of such patients.
