Summary: Subarachnoid haemorrhage is a potentially devastating condition, featured by high rates of morbidity and mortality. The source of bleeding is usually an aneurysm of a major cerebral artery. It is a common belief that before its rupture the aneurysm most often is asymptomatic. Nevertheless such opinions are not supported by the relevant literature. Careful clinical observations support a notion that warning symptoms are usually present in more than 50% of cerebral aneurysms. As the aneurysms often come in contact with oculomotoric and optic nerves, a good part of warning symptoms are those related to the visual system. The paper reviews ocular signs and symptoms related to cerebral aneurysms in their most frequent particular locations.
