Neowaskularyzacja poddołkowa oraz subkliniczna neuro- i retinopatia po leczeniu interferonem – opis pacjenta

Summary: Interferon therapy can be associated with ocular side effects. The most frequent manifestation is retinopathy which appears in 18-86% of cases and is characterized by cotton wool spots, retinal hemorrhages and microaneurysms. The authors present the unusual case of 42 years old female patient treated with 24 weeks course of pegylated interferon and ribavirin. Three weeks after treatment patient complained of visual disturbances. Ophthalmological examination revealed subfoveal neovascularization in the left eye and subclinical neuro- and retinopathy in the right eye which was confirmed by electrophysiological tests. Ophthalmological examination should be performed in patients treated with interferon.
