Summary: A constant increase of use of complicated vitreoreitinal procedures for treatment of serious ophthalmic conditions is observed in last decades. Their effectiveness was visibly enhanced by the application of silicone oil for the endotamponade. Unfortunately the use of silicone oil is associated with subsequent complications, among which cataract, keratopathy and secondary glaucoma are the most frequent. Silicone oil glaucoma is a refractory and aggressive glaucoma type. Medical treatment for this condition is usually no successful, and laser or surgical procedures are necessary for its management. The success of the classical filtration surgery for this kind of glaucoma treatment is relatively low, so silicone oil removal and application of glaucoma drainage devices or cyclodystruction procedures may be used. It is also very important to emphase that the treatment of patients with silicone oil glaucoma should be tailored for them very individually.
