Summary: Patients with cataract and corneal astigmatism are often not satisfied with the improvement of their visual acuity after cataract surgery. Nowadays the challenge at this point becomes removing the cataract lens and provide refractive correction including spherical and cylindrical refractive error at the same time. The authors describe current surgical techniques performed to reduce preexisting or surgically induced corneal astigmatism, including toric IOL implantation. Various models of the available toric IOLs are also shortly presented.
