Inflammatory Risk Factors Predisposing for Age-Related Diseases Development Including Age-related Macular Degeneration

Summary: Aim: to show different directions of the risk factors mechanism initiating the inflammatory changes in the organism as a potential cause of the development of three age-related disease: arteriosclerosis, Alzheimer’s disease and age-related macular degeneration. In the work primary sources of infection from which the bacterial toxin released resulting in pathological cascade were evaluated.
The pathological cascade concerns all vessels and also the eye, causing serious changes both inflammatory and destructive in the whole organism.
Conclusions: It may be significant to consider other primary infections sources in healthy patients as well as in patients with multiple systemic diseases with lower immunological response in older population. The prophylaxis is important especially dental examinations, diagnosis, effective therapy and elimination of inflammatory focus.
